1/27/2012 - Late Night

This is what happens when you wait until 11:30 to take your picture. You start to get a little crazy. Still, fun with lights. For this shot I had a 43" umbrella to camera right, an orbis ring flash adapter around the lens, and a bare flash 6' behind my head. I'd show you the set up shot, but that would reveal just how messy my basement is...

1/26/2012 - Tia

My friends Josh and Jo have two dogs. This is their puppy, Tia, who was very patient to sit still for at least 10 seconds so I could take this picture.

1/25/2012 - Dark Pyramid

Still playing with pyramids. This one is cyan colored, shot in a dark room, lit by a blue and green glow stick.

1/24/2012 - Pyramids in Formation

I've been a fan of these pyramids for many years. There are tons of great games you can play with them. I set them up on a 5x5 board and shot a bunch of pictures, but liked this one the best. I've got a flash set up camera right, aimed a bit above the pieces, as it was too much light aimed right at them.

1/23/2012 - Girl in a Bucket

We bought these giant buckets to use for storage in the girls rooms. But they loved dumping out all the stuff and playing in the buckets. So we got a couple more, just for playing in.

1/22/2012 - Another Smile on the Slopes

Kali had a good time skiing again on Sunday. Many more big smiles, which is great to see.

1/21/2012 - Walking in a Winter Wonderland

We finally got enough snow to break out the snowpants! Still not sticky enough for snowmen, but that's ok.

1/20/2012 - White Chrome

Wow. I've been keeping up taking a picture every day, but it appears I've let a weeks worth build up without posting them. I'll have to try to do better than that for the next week.

This is a shot of the chromebook I'm giving my grandmother for Christmas. Playing with depth of field. (Which I've been doing a lot lately...)

1/19/2012 - Beeautiful cake!

We had a wonderful honey cake at game night tonight, complete with frosting bees on top!

Finally, I'm caught up on pictures. Now we'll see how quickly I fall behind again.

1/18/2012 - The Determinizer

This is a piece from a board game I bought many years ago at Origins in Columbus, OH. It has hardly seen the light of day since, but made for a neat picture.

1/17/2012 - A good eBook

I wanted to see what the difference would be with my Nook vs a real book. I really do enjoy reading on an eInk device.

1/16/2012 - Nostalgia Device

I received my Level 4 part 2 yesterday from Jonathan Coulton's latest album, "Artificial Heart". One of the many things in the beautiful box was Part No. 337: Nostalgia Device. Which is just awesome, as is everything in the box. So much fun to open up and explore. I'll probably take more pictures as I go.

1/15/2012 - A skiing smile!

Sunday was Kali's second ski lesson, and this one went much better than the last. With many giggles and smiles! She's still hesitant getting on her skis, but at least she seems to be having fun. Thanks for that go to her great instructor Megan.

1/14/2012 - The Boot!

We took a drive up to Freeport, ME to visit LL Bean. And we always have to stop to take a picture in front of the boot, no matter how cold it is.

1/13/2012 - Polarity

This is one of my favorite games. "Magnets are awesome, the game" TM. Having more fun with my macro lens. I might have cut the depth of field a little too short here, but I still like it.

1/12/2012 - A Good Book

Experimenting with my 60mm macro lens. I have a bit of a back log to post, sorry about that.

1/11/2012 - Paper Hearts

After dinner tonight, Zoe gave me these paper hearts she made for me. So precious.

1/10/2012 - Christmas Pig!

It all started after Thanksgiving, when we started putting up our Christmas decorations. Our 6 foot inflatable Santa went up in the front yard, but still looked lonely. The 4 foot polar bear we'd bought the previous year didn't make it. On top of that, we needed more lights to cover the bushes. So off to K-Mart we went. When you take a 3 and 5 year old shopping for Christmas decorations, you never know what you'll come back with.

Of course they homed in on the Christmas pigs. Thankfully, they were walkway lights, only 4 inches tall. Indistinguishable pink lights from the street.

So Christmas came and went, and we took down our decorations in the unusually warm weather. Then I found this, and couldn't resist. The girls were ecstatic when it arrived in the mail today. Hence, today's picture. Christmas pig.

1/9/2012 - Kali at Chipotle

We went to Chipotle for dinner tonight, and the light in their kept illuminating Kali's face so nicely, I had to try and capture it.

1/8/2012 - A smile to die for

Kali had a rough time at her first skiing lesson today, but then her Uncle Justin came over for dinner and brought out a huge smile on her face. There's nothing better than that.

Sorry I got a bit backlogged posting pictures. Taking them everyday is one thing, going through them and getting them online is definitely harder. But at least I'm getting into the habit of having my camera with me everywhere.

1/7/2012 - Balloons?

This is Maria, one of Kali's friends, as she was getting her face painted at her sister, Ellie's, birthday party Saturday. She doesn't look so sure about it here, but she really like the balloons.

1/6/2012 - Even Princesses Need Helmets

Kali tried on her new skiing helmet Friday night. It went perfectly with her Cinderella dress.

1/5/2012 - my cousin Jack

I brought my camera with my to game night on Thursday, and captured this nice shot of Jack thinking over his options in a game of 7 Wonders.

1/4/2012 - Finneas in Red

Although I hate resorting to cat pictures so soon, he was just laying there on the back of the couch, so I couldn't resist.

Pictures so far...

1/1/2021 - A picture of my daughter Zoe, lying on the floor, engrossed in her LeapPad.

1/2/2012 - A picture of my mother's guitar. I just wanted to play around with the light and see what I could come up with.

And yesterday, 1/3/2012 - a self portrait, again, playing with light.

A quick start

I've decided to try tackling a photo/day project again, and decided to set up this blog to keep it all together. Wish me luck!
